To The Top Tuesday!

    A “cool” front is on its way to blow away the wisps of summer air left in our town.  The fat drops of the pre-front rain spackled the driveway just as we stepped outside Saturday to ride bikes, trikes, scooters, big wheels, and throw around an assortment of balls.

    “We better head inside!”, Twin B yelled as he darted back into the garage.  Twin A and little bit followed howling as if acid rain were burning holes in the concrete.  Seeing there was no lightening,  and faced with no alternative entertainment, hubs and I said in unison, “Just play in the rain!”

    “Huh?”  The twin’s mouths hung in mirrored shock and awe.  Not from my statement, but their Daddy’s.  See, I married Mr. Clean himself.  He’s even bald just like the cute little man stuck on each glowing yellow bottle. 

    They shot out of the garage like a pack of greyhounds and were soaked in seconds.  I brought out the $4 box of sidewalk chalk and a Mommy Mambo Moment ensued.  Ever played with chalk on a rainy driveway?  It’s an awesome canvas of water color’s that would have been the envy of Monet!

   But, when you use a human canvas!  Well, just take a look….

    What better way to teach what color you get when you mix blue and yellow than a wet puddle of chalk and your brother’s face!  Once they had mixed an array of color puddles, like a giant painter’s palette, they Chip-n-Daled the shirts and used themselves as walking art!

    All the while Daddy went missing.  He couldn’t bare the sight of such raw disregard for cleanliness and order.  After a quick search, I found him hiding his angst in his pursuit of yard of the century…

Where’s Waldo?

In the end I reassured him that they would wash, but this simple celebration of the last breath of summer would bring memories that would stain their hearts forever.
